75th Anniversary Embroidered Hoodies for Buckland & Aston Clinton Cricket Club

The Brief

Buckland & Aston Clinton Cricket Club came to us to mark a genuine milestone — their 75th anniversary — with a piece of club merchandise members and supporters would actually want to wear, not just a one-off novelty item that ends up at the back of a drawer. The club wanted hoodies that felt properly made, with detailed anniversary branding that did justice to 75 years of history, rather than a basic printed logo. Because it was a one-off anniversary run rather than regular seasonal kit, there was no room to get it wrong — the finish had to be right first time, and the club understandably wanted to see and approve the quality before committing to the full order.

What We Did

Given the level of detail in the anniversary design — club crest, founding year, and anniversary text all combined into one badge-style design — we recommended embroidery over print for the finish. Embroidery gives a far more premium, tactile result than a printed transfer, and holds up to years of wear and washing far better, which mattered for a piece intended to last as a genuine keepsake rather than a season’s kit.

Before committing to the full order, we produced sample hoodies so the club could see and handle the actual finished product — thread colours, stitch density, and placement all checked against the artwork before a single unit of the full run was made. Fine detail like small text and fine crest linework is exactly where embroidery can go wrong if the digitising isn’t done properly, so getting sign-off on a physical sample first meant there were no surprises once we moved to volume production.

Once the sample was approved, we ran the full order across the club’s required sizes, keeping the same thread colours, tension, and placement consistent across every hoodie so the anniversary badge looked identical whether it went on a small or an XXL.

The Result

The club now has a set of high-quality, properly finished anniversary hoodies that members and supporters are genuinely proud to wear, with embroidery detail that reflects the significance of the milestone rather than looking like standard club kit with a logo slapped on. Producing samples first meant the club had full confidence in the finished product before committing to the full run, and it’s the approach we’d recommend to any club or organisation marking a real milestone — get the sample right, then scale it up with total consistency.
